  1. NEWS FROM THE GROUP
  • A grant in the bilateral NWO-DFG cooperation programme has been obtained (Dec. 2011).
  • Dr. Bela Bode has been awarded an EaStCHEM Hirst Academic Fellowship to join faculty of the University of St Andrews (July 2011).
  • Focus session on “spin-related phenomena in organics” at the annual meeting of FOM in January 2012 in Veldhoven approved (July 2011).
  • Dr. Chen Song published a manuscript in PNAS showing that the cofactor in phytochrome undergoes a photoflip of pyrrole ring D (Feb. 2011).
  • Dr. Ben Anger obtained the first signal of hyperpolarized 129Xe gas in our laboratory (30 Aug 2010 at 15.30).
  • Prof. Shimon Vega (Weizmann Institute) has been teaching magnetic resonance as van-Arkel guest professor at our institute (April-June 2010). 
  • Dr. Bela Bode received a Feodor-Lynen grant of the Alexander-von-Humboldt-Gesellschaft (Oct. 2009) and a Marie-Curie fellowship of the European Union (Dec. 2009).
  • Our former PhD student Dr. Thierry Rohmer received an Ernst Award 2009 (Sept. 2009) for his publication in PNAS (Oct. 2008) on the structure-function relation of the photoreceptor phytochrome. He also received the "Thesis of the year 2009" award of the Leiden Institute of Chemistry (Oct. 2009).
  • Our group has been hosting the 2009 meeting of the Dutch NMR Discussion Group (16 Oct. 2009). 
  • The new textbook by Möbius and Savitsky on high-field EPR spectroscopy dedicates a chapter to our work on photo-CIDNP MAS NMR (June 2009). 
  • Our group received an ALW "open competition" grant for low-field photo-CIDNP NMR experiments (Nov. 2008).
  • The new 400-MHz WB magnet system, dedicated to optical experiments and obtained by an NWO Middelgroot grant (Feb. 2008), is now on field (Oct. 2008).
  • Our former PhD student Dr. Eugenio Daviso received the “Magnetic Resonance in Chemistry Award for Young Scientists Prize” donated by John Wiley & Sons. The prize has been presented during the EUROMAR conference (St. Petersburg/Russia, 6-11 July 2008).
  • Our former PhD student Dr. Anna Diller received the "researcher of the year 2007"-award of the Leiden Institute of Chemistry (Dec. 2007) as well as an Ernst Award 2008 (Sept. 2008).
  • Our former PhD student Dr. Shipra Prakash received an Ernst Award 2006.
